SEO specialist in Prestwich & North Manchester

I've been building and optimising websites for over 20 years, including 10 years as lead developer at Bouncy Castle Network pushing major SEO initiatives. I work with local businesses to improve their Google rankings through technical fixes, content work, and the ongoing maintenance that tends to get forgotten about once the site is live.

Google's ranking signals aren't a secret: fast-loading pages, clear content that matches what people are searching for, proper meta tags, structured data, and a site that works properly on phones. I handle the technical side of that, and I teach you how to handle the content side, because a site that ranks well tends to be a site that's genuinely useful to the people who land on it.

The work I do

Technical audits and fixes - I check your site for the obvious problems: slow loading, missing meta tags, broken links, content that's identical across multiple pages, that sort of thing. Often there's a quick win or two that makes an immediate difference.

Switching to a faster platform - If your current site is slow - whether it's weighed down by plugins, a heavy theme, or a platform that generates pages on the fly - I can rebuild it as a static site that loads in under a second. That's not a magic bullet, but it's a solid foundation that everything else builds on.

Content guidance - Google ranks pages that answer the question someone typed in. I help you figure out what your customers are actually searching for, and how to write pages that match those searches in a way that reads like a human wrote them.

Local SEO - For searches like "plumber Prestwich" or "restaurant Whitefield", the work is mostly about making sure Google knows where you are, what you do, and that your site answers the question someone in the area is asking. I set up the structured data, get your Google Business profile sorted, and make sure your site mentions the areas you serve in a way that makes sense to a human reader.

A few results

Here's what I've helped local businesses achieve recently:

This & That cafe

  • 3rd for "Curry Manchester" (after TripAdvisor and Reddit)
  • 4th for "Vegan Curry Manchester" (despite not being fully vegan)

Vegan Prestwich - the community group my wife and I run

  • 1st for "Vegan Prestwich"
  • 3rd for "Vegan Whitefield"

Renegade Solar

  • 2nd for "Solar Panel installer Prestwich"

Sally's Bakes

  • 1st for "Vegan Baker Bury"

What I need from you

SEO isn't something I do to your site while you get on with running the business. I need to understand what you do, who your customers are, and what you offer that the other listings on the same page don't. You're the expert on your business; I just know how to translate that into something Google understands.

For local SEO in particular, it helps if you know the area - which neighbourhoods you serve, how people describe what you do, what questions customers ask before they book. I can research a lot of that, but the inside knowledge you already have is invaluable.

How I work

I tend to do an initial audit, fix the technical problems, and then either hand over to you with a plan for ongoing content, or keep working with you on a retainer basis if you'd rather I handled it. For Prestwich businesses, that means I can sit with you in person to go through the Google Search Console data, or I can chat you through it on WhatsApp. Whatever works.

My free guides and videos cover most of the basics, so if you're the sort of person who likes to do things yourself, start there and get in touch when you hit a technical wall.

What I don't do

  • Dodgy link building - buying links, stuffing keywords, cloaking, any of the tricks that sometimes work for a month and then get your site penalised. It's not worth the risk.
  • Guarantees - Nobody honest can promise you a specific ranking. Google changes its algorithm constantly, and your competitors are working on their sites too. What I can promise is that I'll do proper work and tell you the truth about what's achievable.
  • Vanity metrics - I track whether your site is getting more relevant visitors and whether those visitors are turning into enquiries. Ranking #1 for a term nobody searches for is pointless, and I'd rather tell you that than take your money to chase it.

Free resources

I share what I know through free guides and videos. My YouTube channel goes into more depth on specific topics. Feel free to use them - they're there because I think this stuff shouldn't be locked behind a paywall.
